Being a night owl

I still remember the fateful day when I started being a night owl consistently. My maths teacher had given me an imposition to write some problem 100 times. I being a diligent student sat till 3 am in the morning to write the full stuff. I remember this distinctly being the first time ever I have stayed so late in the night.

Once you understand that this is possible, you tend to explore the possibilities, as was my case of trying to explore how consistently can I stay awake by any means possible, may be by reading books, watching telly etc. etc. I used to do this by ignoring the pleas of my parents to sleep early. And tell me how can a teenager obey his parents?

This went on through my college life. I have really forgotten the feeling of how does it look at 6 in the morning. Rather I am not accustomed to 6 am in the night. I am suffering this same fact now a day. I can’t get up early in the morning and come to office on time. I sleep late thinking I can wake up and invariably I can’t. I know this and still I do it. Don’t know how can I shrug of this habit and make it a point to get up early everyday. I am envious now of the people who can do that…….

Before I end, I found this article in rediff. Very interesting and definitely to be read.

oh man getting up early is hard, its worse when its still dark and its cold or wet.

I used to love getting up really early, in June getting up at 3.30am to watch the sun rise, haven't done that in years!

My wife puts her alarm on the other side of the room when she knows she has to get up on time for a meeting which gets her out of bed, maybe try that?

Oh and coffee, lots of good coffee helps.

Role on those summer days when the sun shines though the window to wake us up :-)

Craig,i second what you just mentioned mate. I have hard time, i keep 3 alarms to get up every day and i do a good job of getting up, walking, putting it out and sleeping again. Some times i am amazed at my own ability. :-) I am amazed to know that you used to get up so early. Infact it is a very good thing to do.
