Oldboy

On Saturday afternoon, I saw the dvd of the korean movie Oldboy lying on the sofa of our house. This movie has undergone some amount of discussion between myself and my roommates. A bollywood movie has been released in India by name zinda which is a exact copy of the movie rehashed to indian audiences. We wanted to see the original version rather the stupid copy which we were pretty sure to be an awful watch. My mate had rented it.

I sat down to watch the movie. This is about a person who has been imprisoned for 15 years, not in a prison but in some highly specialised confinement. He does not know why he is imprisoned. He is not allowed to talk to anyone. The only thing he can do is watch telivision and write stuff. One day after 15 years, he is allowed to go free for 5 days on one condition that he should find out himself the reason for his prison or go back to prison. An interesting storyline.

Personally i found this storyline different and the movie interesting to watch. It has a good amount of violence, some quirky dialogues, good performances. I think it is a movie worth a single watch. I recommend it. Don't expect a lot from the movie, just go with the flow and ignore the story. I am sure you will enjoy watching it for a different experience.
