Superman Returns - My review

I watched the movie Superman Returns last week and this is what i felt about it.

I can say one thing after watching the movie Superman Returns that that was not what i expected from the movie. I did like the movie and enjoyed it too as in general i have a liking for superman.

The plot is about Superman coming back to earth after 5 years during which he had gone to see the remnants of Krypton, his home planet. He comes back to find that his love, Lois lane has moved on, had a kid and sort of dating the son of Daily Planet editor. All seems normal till the evil Lux Luthor finds a way to Superman's secret place and uncovers the secret of Krypton, their technology and their brilliance with crystals. He plans to build a new land mass by removing the older ones killing billions of people....And the story goes.....

I enjoyed watching superman and lex luthor. Lex is downright evil. Special effects were really nice. and story is Ok (though very long...if you had a superman cartoon, the plot would have ended in 20 mins) and for us to watch through 2.5 hrs was too much. Anyways...I can forgive that and watch the movie as I did enjoy it.

My complaint with the movie is on who were the target audience of the movie. Generally Superman is loved by kids and teens and what they want to see is loads of action, a bit less of sentiments. But sentiments and mush were the feature of the movie. And they are applied liberally without any consideration to the viewer. my personal opinion. Whatever the special effects were shown, they were brilliant...but more of that apparently is the call of the day. and that is where i feel the movie disappoints. Lois Lane acts more like a teenage single mom, than a mature lady. (I may be wrong here...Again my personal opinion).

My verdict is 6.5/10. This movie is worth watching once just to enjoy Superman. And don't expect a lot...then you will be rewarded.
