I was reading through Guy Kawasaki’s blog and was lead to this research conducted on advertising that says that a majority of the customers still prefer word of mouth rather than advertising via different mediums like emails.
In a way I agree with this remark. I won’t even bother to read about a product if I have been send as a mail to me. My inclination would be to think of it as a spam and delete the mail. The whole scenario changes if it has been recommended by a friend of mine. Then the idea/product becomes more trustworthy.
Word of mouth at the same has a more negative effect also. If the comment from my friend is negative, then I would not even bother to try the same. And that is presently a big monster that any company or firm is facing. Do read this interesting blog about the challenge that many a big organisations are facing now a days and the ways and means of tacking it.
