Cricket at Chapelfield

Last Sunday Acle Cricket Club's 3rd time had an away game at Chapelfield in Norwich near by Ketts hill. It is a nice ground to play on. Hope I could say that about the pitch. It was really bad, with the bowl bouncing really very high...staying low..doing everything that a batsman don't want to face.

We did what we have been doing for sometime now. We lost another game. Our batting did not click well. We could make only 147...I made another....yup you guessed it...0.... I don't want to bat anymore because I am not able to contribute with my bat. Coote made 22 with my bat(loaned from Geoff, our skipper)... That definitely concludes that there is nothing wrong with the bat... :-) :-)

Tom, our opening batsman is an extremely talented youngster...You will never beleive he is only 15 by the way he bats....He scored a classic 45...an openers innings.

Our strike bowler, Striker (Tom) is severely low in confidence. He really can get some pace....I tried my level best to keep him up....I am sure he will be yearning to have a go after his brief holiday.

The pitch overlooked Norwich prison. Suddenly I felt bad...I was wondering Will the prisoners in Jail be longingly looking at the pitch and yearning why are they not outside....smelling the grass...having a cup of tea with their family in the glorious summer evening...A fact which was confirmed by our extremely talented Keeper Ryan (Fazaa)....who father is a prison officer in the same prison....It is sad isn't it???

I have to admit...I enjoyed playing there...We played with a simple team with no attitudes...honest blokes who wanted to perform and play well. We had a nice tea also ...enjoyed it....

Our skip Geoff is an extremely talented batsman. He should be working really hard to get into some good sides and improve his batting skills. I am sure he can do that if he really puts his heart and mind to it......
