Norwich v/s Preston

On Tuesday, a sudden plan was made with my boss Shane and we ended up watching the football game between Norwich and Preston. And what a game it was.

I had not seen Norwich play like that for a long period of time and I have to admit the new winder Croft made quite a huge difference to the whole proceedings. Last year all the ball used to go to the left flank to Huckerby and seeing a change in the pattern was in itself a huge relief.

The players played with passion, with purpose and with energy and the score line reflected that with 2-0 Norwich. We were lucky for the first own goal by Preston, but I reckon sometimes what you need is luck. And the second one was an absolute classic, a nice pass by McVeigh converted to a classic goal by Earnshaw . An absolute pleasure to watch.

I have to admit I saw more of Dickson Ethuhu (Preston is his former club) in this game than the whole of last season combined and he was deserved man of the match. Won quite a lot of crucial tackles, ran with energy…was always present when needed….Safri was his usual best….he is the thinking midfielder who measures his pass and is brilliant on field.

Croft made quite a lot of runs and troubled their defenders. His arrival has made quite a lot of influence to City and now I am looking forward to the season. Hucks got loads of chance to come inwards and attack and there was better movement from the whole team. Good to see Hucks played with more freedom than he normally gets.

I have mention some negatives…they are not criticism rather comments….

All the goal kicks were made to croft…last year everything went to Huckerby…I reckon what we should be doing is mixing it up a bit just to make the opposition think on their toes.  I felt our right side defence was a bit shabby

I need more players in the squad…I reckon we cannot expect all the players to show the energy that they displayed today throughout the season. That will be a bit too much to ask for. We need to shore up our defence and our midfield. We now have options in attack…not sure of the other dept. though.

That is my 2 pence worth of thoughts
