Fred Wilson in his blog explains that it is not only necessary for advertisers for paying for banners in a blog site. It is also necessary to have ads in the various feeds since quite a lot of people read blogs using feed readers like Google Reader, Bloglines where in the ads does not get featured. Interesting observation and a very valid one too
