Tibetan activist warned of deportation

Rediff reports:

A week before Chinese President Hu Jintao's visit to India, the Indian Government served Tibetan activist and writer, Tenzin Tsundue, with an order forbidding him to leave the territorial jurisdiction of Dharamshala Town until November 25.

It is a matter of shame and regret for a democratic country like India to act like this. Unfortunately this has been done just to appease the Chinese government. This also means that one day Indians will also not be able to have peaceful protest march to appease someone or the other and that day will be pathetic.

What is wrong if the Tibetan people in India protest against a Chinese official, if it is going to be peaceful?

India should think of the country as a whole not jsut of an individual... And I think it is time India takes such stern steps and be choosy about who stays here.. India is democratic for indians not for other nationals ...

@Vin >> First of all I really do not mind India giving a gag order against a protest, but we should do it out of our choice, not because we want to obey someone's else's condition. That apparently is the case here. It is a well known fact that India has allowed exiled Tibetians to stay in India and I am pretty proud of that fact. Any decision that is made should be out of our own accord.
