Indian BPO's getting tough on Job Hoppers

This is the hot news now. The Indian BPO's are insisting that any employee hopping jobs should pay for its training costs and then only can they leave. If they do not oblige by it the employees have to face legal action. There are other restrictions also like not giving experience certificate, not providing reliving letter etc etc.

I think this is absurd. No company is doing charity by providing training to its recruits. They are looking at growth and ensuring that every single penny can be squeezed from each of the employees for whom they are providing training. Does the employee ask the recruiting company to pay him back all the profit made via him when he is leaving? It is the prerogative of each employee to leave and chose his own destination depending on his thoughts. At the same time, a company need not recruit anyone who has been a consistent job hopper. This is my take and I am sure this not go very well with the HR people. May be they should seriously think why would someone want to leave them. May be it is money, so what...if someone else is willing to provide more money for the same work, why should he not leave?

What does my readers think? Are my views wrong? Do let me know.

My first Job was with a BPO firm.

They had outsourced training to a Vendor who gave me a certificate on successful completion of my training .

When I quit my Job after 4 months, I had to return my training certificate to them.. wonder what they will do with that :))

@Barani >> Were you told during the time of employment that you will need to give back the certificate?

I was told @ that time.. Given the JOB Scenario that time. I did not bother to ask them, what if i resign.

Ok..At least you were informed of the same. But as you said, I am not sure what purpose is that going to solve if you give back the certificate. You could always show your sal cert. to show that you worked there...nyways...some times companies act so strange...

You are 100% correct on your opinion. The concept is goofy

This is just a kind of moral pressure they exert - I don't think it can hold against any laws. But you know, because of the hassles involved in going to court, most people just pay up and go.
