An off beat topic for me to think about. Being in the US now and watching the television out here has been quite an experience. Especially the adverts out here. First of all Guys in India, We make great adverts,a lot better than what I have seen here. The hutch ad proves my point.
What happens in here is testimonial advertising....I use this because.... blah blah blah...This works better than that...direct attack on opponents in business. Actually I think it is quite sad.
But I think the point is how do you sell your product in such a market. Should you also get Oprah to say "Yah...I use it"...isn't there no other way to make your point. I wonder.

Advertising here is very scientific. Ads are focus grouped, measured, dissected, and remeasured. Numbers matter. What survives is what works; what people watch and what people remember. Unfortunately, it doesn't make for very good ads.
