Indian Express article on FDI in practice

FDI in practice

I believe it is good in general for FDI in India for the retail segment. And I sure hope it gets passed at one point or the other.

I above Indian Express article portrays the positive effect on FDI for Cash & Carry wholesalers. I would like to know an opposition view also, without the rhetoric.

I would not couch for retail FDI in India. Especially direct involvement. It is not the best thing for India, farmers/villagers. My view is to continue with current state of getting FDI in wholesale sector rather than retail. Or atleast try to look at other options like "Hero Honda" etc - Indian Brand with <50% stake off foreign brand....

@Raghava >> The Indian express article is trying to disprove exactly that. Big retail has been able to provide better money and resources to farmers.

Sorry Balaji, i lost any kind trust and credibility from our Indian Media. They just speak based on the political alignment they have. As you mentioned, if you write all positive points, it always looks good. Moreover, when your soul is tied to political party rather than people, its obvious that they mention only in favour. Give me an example, which bought good for India. Ex: Pepsi/Cola - now where is Limca/Thumsup (may be slightly) and other brands...its lost....and in this case, its just affected local drinks companies. In FDI retail, it will affect each and every person in India. Do you think Walmart would think of India and its people when food crisis comes or they are looking at their targets.
